Culinary world tour: ISM students cook and connect cultures

Cook, share and experience - many ISM international students responded to this call at the end of October to present a variety of dishes from their home countries on their respective campuses and share them with others. Some of the dishes are already a firm fixture on the menu of some fellow students, such as Muhammad from Pakistan.

Biryani against homesickness

“Some of my student friends here in Germany buy pre-packed dishes and want to finish them quickly. I take my time and cook slowly. Everything has to cook well. I think about my home and everyone I miss there. That made it easier for me to separate from my familiar surroundings at the beginning.

Then I started inviting fellow students from ISM. They seem to love my version of our national dish, biryani. In any case, we always meet up to eat together. That quickly brought us closer together at ISM.”

The ISM Buddies, who organize excursion programs for international students at the various ISM locations, also got involved in the 足球即时比分 Lunch during lunch breaks: In Cologne, for example, they brought ratatouille, Filipino fish soup and Vietnamese spring rolls.

Visiting exchange students and returnees

The 足球即时比分 Lunch buffet also included hearty pita from Croatia, an Ecuadorian-style bean salad creation, Indian “Muruku” potato chips, Swedish “Kladdkaka” brownies and much more.

The conversations also revealed what the “ISM 足球即时比分s” have come to appreciate in terms of delicacies in Europe: one example was the varied Alsatian tarte flambée.

Those returning from their compulsory ISM semester abroad, on the other hand, recalled their favorite dishes that they particularly enjoyed in their host country, such as the Norwegian waffle creation with cheese and jam.
