Practical and international Bachelor programs in English in Germany

The Bachelor's programs at ISM are distinguished by their strong practical and international orientation and the mix of basic business knowledge with course-specific specialized content. Small learning groups, invidual support and a personal atmosphere are typical elements for studying at ISM which our Bachelor degree program students highly appreciate.

ISM is AACSB-accredited internationally and all our undergraduate programs enjoy unlimited German state recognition and top positions in university rankings.

A Bachelor degree in English in Germany can be started at ISM either in the fall or in spring term. The curricula includes a compulsory semester abroad, almost three months of integrated internships and intensive training of soft skills. There is no numerus clausus (NC, average grade) or specific GPA needed for applying for an ISM Bachelor's programs. Also, you can add optional language courses such as German, French, Italian or Spanish, if you wish to develop your other language skills.

Bachelor degree programs full-time on-campus

When you opt for a full-time bachelor degree, studying is your "main job". You will attend lectures every day, write assignments or work on group projects with fellow students and prepare for exams. You dedicate yourself fully to your Bachelor's program. The workload of a full-time bachelor course is equivalent to a full-time job. You will receive your lecture timetable at the start of your bachelor studies and attend the respective courses provided for in your Bachelor's degree program.

Entry requirements Bachelor's programs

Our Bachelor programs are designed for applicants who have achieved general qualification for German university admission.

For the pre-check of your qualification for a Bachelor’s program, please submit the following documents to a study advisor:

  • School leaving certificate (if available)
  • Transcript of records. No specific Numerus Clausus (NC) is required to apply at ISM!
  • Short Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Optional: certficate of English language?knowledge (only if available?and only needed if the medium of instruction in your high school was not English; otherwise you will be asked to take an assessment test in English online).

We will gladly perform a fast check of your documents for you if you send us your documents above. Upon examination and sucessful verification of your documents, you will be asked to?apply online for an admission test.

Recommended application period beforehand:

  • At least 1 month in advance if your country of origin is in the EU and you do not need a visa.
  • Ca. 4 months - up to one year year before your start semester, if you come from a non-EU country. Please get informed from your country's German consulate how long the visa application process is currently taking, as this varies very much between countries.

Deadlines for application

It is also important to note the deadlines for the respective semester for a full-time Bachelor's degree. There is always an application deadline for students who need a study visa for Germany:

  • 15th of July for the fall term and
  • 15th of December for the spring term.

Advantages with a Bachelor program at ISM

The full-time Bachelor degree in English in Germany at ISM is characterized by a strong international focus.

In addition to basic business knowledge, you can also deepen or learn optional foreign languages and can gain a lot of practical experience throughinternships and practical projects with global companies.

The Bachelor's degree curricula includes many weeks of internships in which you gain practical, on the job experience. The advantage of this is that internships are often paid and you earn money alongside your full-time bachelor studies.

In the case of ISM, your studies also always include a semester spent abroad at one of the many partner universities of the ISM. Another opportunity with our full-time Bachelor's program is that you can add an additional semester (Global Track) to your Bachelor of science in Germany and complete it at one of our international partner universities.

In the end, you will have collected 210 ECTS points instead of 180 and will score points in your future job applications with even more international experience.

Bachelor program full-time and the ECTS point system

Your achievements for the Bachelor degree are assessed according to the ECTS point system (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System). The credit points are used to measure the total time spent on your full-time studies and are awarded in addition to grades or other assessments.

In total, ECTS points are made up of the teaching time on site, the preparation and follow-up work, the examinations, the learning effort for examinations, assignments, internships and the final thesis. 30 hours are considered per each credit point.

Each module in your Bachelor program curricula is assigned a certain number of credit points so that you can see the workload at a glance and plan your study and learning schedule accordingly.

You should collect 30 credit points at the end of each semester so that you have at least 180 and a maximum of 210 ECTS points in the standard period of study for a full-time Bachelor's degree (6-7 semesters).

Always take your courses in such a way that you have enough time for lectures and studying, but also have enough free time to balance out your heavy workload.

What admission requirements do you need to meet to study Bachelor full-time?

The admission requirements for a full-time Bachelor degree depend on various factors. Basically, you need a general university entrance qualification or a comparable qualification. Under certain circumstances, a certain amount of practical work experience may also be considered for a full-time Bachelor's degree. At ISM you will need to apply also with a short letter of motivation, a CV and your certificates, just like for a "real" job.?

For the bachelor degree programs in English in Germany at ISM, you will need a valid higher education entrance qualification such as a general higher education entrance qualification, an entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences or a relevant professional qualification. You do NOT have to fulfill an NC (Numerus Clausus) or meet certain GPA criteria!

Can you work full-time as a Bachelor student?

A Bachelor's program at ISM is structured in such a way that examinations begin immediately after the last lectures. As a full-time student, you can therefore start a (paid) internship promptly afterwards. You have the opportunity to complete an internship at ISM for around five months a year.

Additionally, there are certain limitations as regards the number of hours that you can work. Students may work up to 20 hours per week during pursuing their studies. Should you exceed this limit, you will be required to pay taxed into the German social security system. Also, taking a job requiring too many hours may have an adverse impact on you academic performance during your full-time studies.

Non-EU students are also permitted to work in Germany concurrently with their studies, for a maximum of 120 full days or 240 half days per year. Bachelor students who hold a minijob can earn up to 538 EUR per month without having to pay taxes.

Career opportunities after completing the Bachelor's degree

After completing a bachelor's degree in Management, Finance, Business Administration or Business Analytics in Germany, a wide range of career opportunities open up. Graduates can begin their careers in various industries such as finance, marketing, human resources and project management.

Specialized roles could include business analyst, marketing manager, financial consultant or human resources officer. In addition, the dynamic start-up scene in Germany offers opportunities for entrepreneurial graduates interested in innovation and technology.
