ISM students present solutions for sustainable sports tourism at international conference in Safaga
The conference showed once again how the sports and travel industries can benefit from cross-border exchange to develop far-reaching solutions. The program did not only include presentations and discussions. Rather, the participants were also asked to take a look at local offers and think of possibilities for a more sustainable environmental protection. A joint snorkeling excursion further fueled the research discussions, as the preservation of biodiversity in the Red Sea and the behavior of diving tourists were debated particularly intensively.
ISM student Anne Reimann gave a presentation on sustainable behavior of golf and ski tourists. At the conference, she found the exchange with the Egyptian participants particularly inspiring: "The Egyptian partners are very aware of the importance of tourism for their homeland, and they also want to preserve the biodiversity of the Red Sea. They are therefore very open to new ideas and solutions for more sustainable tourism."
